Watch out for Wilbur
If one entered the Bedford YMCA past 11 O'Clock PM. on some occasions it would make no sense why a 13 year old boy was the active janitor. However, one would never enter the YMCA that late because at that time it is closed. That janitors name was Will and for Will it made perfect sense why he was there. He cleaned, he left before anyone saw him and on the 15 th and the 30 th his father would continue to receive a pay check, which for Will and his sisters meant food. At night the YMCA conserved energy by turning off half of the lights. Will thought this gave the place a dreary, cold and dark feel. He walked the halls mop in hand often quite sure he could hear the echoes of the peoples voices who crowded them hours before. He imagined young kids playing dodge ball and men playing basketball, women splashing through the pool and of course the gym goers grunting as they lifted weights upstairs.
